The Tweed Rail Society is now launching a number of
appeals in order that we can begin to progressively upscale our
operations. It is vitally important that a number of appeals be opened
immediately for a variety of equipment and rollingstock. This is a normal
part of what societies do in order to move forward. Without this
additional funding our progress will be considerably impeded. In due
course a number of appeals may run concurrently. Appeals can be for
rollingstock or for items like sleepers in order to repair the track. Even
tools and other equipment could be considered such as track maintenance
machinery which can save many bad backs and speed up operations
As the 620/720 2 car diesel rail cars are soon to be
taken out of service from Newcastle (scheduled by June 2007) our
first priority is to try and raise sufficient funds to secure as many sets
as possible. I am therefore opening an appeal to raise $100,000 for these
acquisitions.
These rail car sets are perfectly suited for operation
on the Murwillumbah line and this WILL be the the LAST chance to secure
ANY operational diesel rail cars in NSW. In addition it is expected that
competition will be fierce amongst the rail societies in NSW should these
sets be available on the open market.
There are 2 methods of fund raising.
1. Donations and 2. Loans (only interest free loans
will be accepted )
Note under special circumstances a joint ownership
arrangement of rollingstock items of rollingstock will be considered
A record of all loans and donations will be kept by the
society in order to keep track of funds and to check our progress with
various fund raisings
Cheques or money orders can be made out to Tweed Rail
Society Appeals.
On the reverse of the cheque / money order please
specify which item you wish to donate to as there will be a number of
appeals run in due course. Cash can only be accepted at meetings - please
advise in advance so you will receive a receipt on exchange (no cash via
mail please and no responsibility for cash via mail or other methods
except in person will be accepted )
The Tweed Rail Society will accept any donations or
loans. Unless requested please try and keep funds rounded to nearest
$10.00. Preferably the more the better. The more we raise now the sooner
we can get operating
Note any surplus funds will go towards other
appeals for rollingstock and or locomotives. Other appeals will be
announced in coming months once the rail cars have been dispersed in
