NSW State
Election: Now that the NSW state election is over for 2007 the result is a
mixed fortune for the Tweed Rail Society. In brief
1. Neville lost his job
because he wouldn't stick up for the local community regarding the
Murwillumbah line
2. Labors 2 party preferred
margin is only 2% now as opposed to the 5.6% margin it had prior to the
election
3.
Transport service provision played a big part in the election result.
Clearly Iemma is unhappy with CityRail and RailCorp and has given Vince
Graham 3 months to fix many of the problems or else heads will roll
4. The Tweed Rail Society
will continue the fight to restore the Murwillumbah line for passenger and
freight operations. We will seek access as soon as possible to enable us
to remove vegetation from the line. Work will continue on the pay bus and
we will continue to press government for service reinstatement.
